Andrew Gardner Illustration

I'd always dabbled in illustration throughout my creative career, but my journey towards children's books was kickstarted after a fantastic week in rural Spain as a student at Picturecamp in 2016. I then attended the famous Bologna Children's Book Fair (in 2017 & 2018) where I learnt the fundamentals of the children's publishing industry, as well as how to best improve and adapt my artwork for the better.

With a fresh new portfolio I joined the artist roster of the Bright Agency in May 2018 and since then I've illustrated several early reader & educational titles for a selection of publishers. My first illustrated trade picture book The Pipsqueak (written by Ben Manley) was published by the prestigious Andersen Press in February 2022.

I'm currently working as a full-time designer and art director, and so only take on freelance illustration projects when my busy schedule allows.
