Hello, I’m Andrew Gardner; a life-long doodler with a love of silly humour, Japanese culture and fantasy creatures. I’ve always had passion for both drawing & storytelling, and after over a decade working as a designer & art director I decided to pursue a long-held goal; to illustrate children's books.

I'd always dabbled in illustration throughout my creative career, but it was kickstarted after a fantastic week in rural Spain as a student at Picturecamp in 2016. I then attended the Bologna Children's Book Fair (in 2017 & 2018) where I learnt the fundamentals of the children's publishing industry, but also how to best adapt my work and  improve my artwork style to achieve my goals.

With a fresh new portfolio, I joined the artist roster of the Bright Agency in the summer of 2018, and since then I've illustrated several early reader & educational titles for a selection of publishers, including Oxford University Press, Igloo Books, Rising Stars and Scholastic. I also illustrated my first trade picture book, The Pipsqueak, for the prestigious Andersen Press, which will published in February 2022.

I balance my illustration work with my current day-job as Senior Art Director at Amazon, London.
